Belleville police have charged a driver after an accident on Highway 2.
In the early morning hours of Sunday, officers responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver along Highway 2 near Point Anne Road. Police were told that a vehicle was seen swerving into oncoming traffic before colliding with a hydro pole.
Upon arrival, the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot, initiating a brief foot pursuit that included jumping over a fence. The driver was taken into custody a short distance away.
Issac Wing, a 21-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with: obstructing a peace officer, diving under the influence, blood alcohol over 80, and novice driver with blood alcohol above zero.
He was released on an undertaking with a scheduled court date in June.
