Ground has officially been broken on a four-bed expansion to Hospice Quinte’s Stan Klemencic Care Centre.
During a Friday morning ceremony, construction was officially started on the “More Heart, More Home” expansion to the care centre, featuring four additional beds, a new sun lounge, laundry facilities, and an office for visiting doctors to use when meeting with patients.
Executive Director of Hospice Quinte, Petra Lepage, said that the extra beds will allow them to serve more members of the community.
“We currently often run a wait list, and it’s very heartbreaking for us to not be able to serve as many of the residents and families as we would like to,” said Lepage. “Creating four more beds will allow us to serve up to 200 more resident clients per year, and that represents thousands of family members and caregivers within our community.”
Construction is expected to be finished in December, with the beds ready to use in January.
