The City of Belleville is inviting residents to attend an upcoming Public Consultation Centre and public meeting as part of the Official Plan review process. These sessions will provide an opportunity to review and comment on a draft Official Plan amendment that will guide future growth and development across the city.
The update is being undertaken to ensure the city’s Official Plan aligns with recent changes to provincial legislation and policy, including the 2024 Provincial Planning Statement, and continues to reflect local priorities such as supporting a range of housing options, including missing middle housing.
The draft amendment proposes updates that will apply to all lands within the City of Belleville.
A Public Consultation Centre will be held on Tuesday, April 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Sir Mackenzie Bowell Room at Belleville City Hall, 169 Front St.
This informal drop-in session will provide an opportunity for residents to review the proposed changes and ask questions. Please note that this session will be held in person only.
A public meeting will follow on Monday, May 4 at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall. This meeting will provide an opportunity for members of the public to make formal comments on the proposed Official Plan amendment. The meeting will also be streamed live on the city’s YouTube channel and available for viewing following the meeting.
“We’re committed to ensuring Belleville’s Official Plan reflects both provincial requirements and the needs of our growing community,” said Thomas Deming, Manager of Policy Planning. “We encourage residents to take part in this process, review the proposed updates and share their feedback.”
Residents who are unable to attend in person can submit comments by email to planning@belleville.ca or by mail or in person at Belleville City Hall, 169 Front St., Belleville, ON K8N 2Y8.
