A call from an off-duty police officer helped take a suspected impaired driver off the road.
On Sunday at 6 p.m., officers from the Prince Edward County OPP received a traffic complaint for a possible impaired driver. Officers conducted a traffic stop and an Approved Screening Device was used. As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.
Travis Robbins, a 49-year-old from Prince Edward County, has been charged with operation while impaired, blood alcohol over 80, driving without a valid licence, and failure to update the address on his licence.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton in May. His driver’s licence was also suspended for a period of 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.
