A new date has been set for a roundtable discussion between members of Belleville City Council and local members of provincial parliament.
Belleville City Council will hold a special meeting with Bay of Quinte MPP Tyler Allsopp and Hastings-Lennox and Addington MPP Ric Bresee on Tuesday, April 7, starting at 10 a.m.
The roundtable meeting had initially been scheduled for February 17 but less than an hour before it was set to begin, it was announced the roundtable would be postponed.
Belleville council will have the opportunity for direct dialogue with local provincial representatives regarding legislation and policy decisions affecting municipalities, particularly those related to planning and development.
Recent legislative changes and government programs connected to housing and homelessness, including funding levels and expectations related to homelessness supports, mental health services and primary care are also planned to be discussed.
Council will also raise concerns about costs and service responsibilities being downloaded to municipalities and will review outstanding correspondence and previous resolutions awaiting response.
A roundtable involving local members of the federal government was held back in March.
A look at the agenda for the meeting can be found at the City of Belleville’s website.
