Impaired Driver
In connection with an impaired driving incident on December 31, 2025, following an investigation, Belleville police have charged a motorist with operation while impaired.
On December 31 at 3:19 a.m., Belleville police responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver after a male was observed to be asleep in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers repeatedly knocked on the driver’s side window to wake the male and subsequently observed signs of impairment.
On March 27, as a result of investigation, Michael Zaharko, a 49-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with:

Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
He was released on an undertaking with a scheduled court date in April.

Impaired Driver
On March 27 at 3:53 p.m., Belleville police responded to multiple calls reporting a vehicle driving erratically in the area of Old Highway 2. Officers located the suspect vehicle stopped on the side of the road. Upon speaking with the male driver, officers observed signs of impairment and observed an open alcohol bottle next to the driver’s seat.
As a result of police investigation, a 35-year-old Trenton man, was arrested and charged with:

Operation while impaired – alcohol

Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg

Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code

Driving while under suspension x3

Novice driver – BAC above zero

Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver

Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
He was held for a bail hearing.
Impaired Driver
On March 28, 2026 at 6:44 p.m., Belleville police responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver after a male was observed to be slumped over in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located the parked vehicle and knocked on the driver’s side window to wake the male. Police subsequently observed signs of impairment and observed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. As a result of the investigation, Jordan Wood, a 34-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs. He was released on an undertaking with a scheduled court date in May. The investigation remains ongoing.
