There could be a lot more docks for boaters to use at Picton Harbour soon.
On Thursday, County Council’s Committee of the Whole recommended council approve a one-year lease agreement with the owners of Water Lot 1, Casa Dea Finance Limited.
If approved, there would be another 67 slips for public use on top of 14 already operated by the county.
Under the agreement, Casa Dea Finance will bring water and power to the docks and pay for major upgrades while the county will handle maintenance and the day-to-day operation of the docks.
Revenues would be split 70% for Casa Dea Finance and 30% for the county.
Some councillors thought a 60/40 split would be fairer for the county but there was no change made as the lease is for only the upcoming boating season and will be reconsidered afterward.
