Belleville Police have revealed the charges laid against a Quinte West man involved in the fatal motor vehicle collision on Saturday.
Forty-nine-year-old John Golka was originally arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm
- Impaired operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm
- Blood alcohol concentration – 80 or more milligrams
Golka was held for a bail hearing and has remained in custody since.
As the investigation progressed, the charges against Golka were upgraded on Wednesday to the following:
- Dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death
- Impaired operation of a conveyance causing death
- Blood alcohol concentration – 80 or more milligrams causing death
Golka remains in custody.
A serious motor-vehicle collision on Dundas Street West on Saturday led to 19-year-old Samuel Brown being extricated from his vehicle with life-threatening injuries.
He was taken to Kingston General Hospital where he later passed away from his injuries.
