Ontario Provincial Police have recovered a stolen vehicle and charged one person following a traffic stop on Highway 401.
Officers were on patrol on Highway 401 east in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand when the in‑cruiser Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system alerted them to a stolen vehicle just before 11 a.m. on Thursday.
The passenger vehicle had been reported stolen a week earlier from an area in Quebec.
The vehicle was stopped by officers, and the driver was taken into custody.
Thirty-five-year-old Ali Duval from Blainville, Quebec has been charged with:
- Theft of motor vehicle
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in April.
