A 28-year-old man is facing charges following an incident in the city Thursday morning.
Belleville police on general patrol just after 10 a.m. observed a male and female engaged in a verbal argument.
Officers spoke with both individuals and the male initially provided a false name.
Upon further investigation, officers learned that the male was bound by conditions prohibiting communication with the female.
The male attempted to flee but was apprehended a short distance away.
While in custody, he spat on an officer.
The Belleville man of no fixed address is charged with:
· Assault a peace officer
· Obstruct peace officer
· Resist peace officer
· Failure to comply with an undertaking x2
He was held for a bail hearing.
