Local high school students will protest the provincial government’s changes to the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP).
Nicholson Catholic College student Anna Baldwin Powell says students will leave several Belleville schools for a rally Tuesday in Market Square.
A time for the rally has not yet been set.
Doug Ford’s government has changed the OSAP program to make 75 percent of the money available to students in the form of loans and 25 percent in the form of grants.
Currently, 85 percent of the money is in grant form and only 15 percent loans.
Students say the changes will make many students unable to receive a post-secondary education.
Baldwin Powell has set up an Instagram page. Nicholson_osapwalkout.
