A rainfall warning is in effect for the Quinte region.
Environment Canada has issued a yellow warning for rainfall for this afternoon, with the significant rainfall expected to continue into tomorrow.
In its alert, the weather agency says it’s calling for rainfall amounts of 15 to 40 mm with locally higher amounts possible due to thunderstorms.
Substantial snow melt is expected, contributing to ponding on roads and low lying areas.
Environment Canada says several rounds of showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected with the first expected to move into Ontario on Friday evening.
The rain combined with mild temperatures will likely melt much of the significant snowpack and lead to additional runoff.
