The two paramedics badly injured when their ambulance was T-boned by a tractor-trailer in Madoc in early February are recovering.
In an updated Facebook post, CUPE Local 1842 says Mya Nichols, who was critically injured, is now awake from a coma and has been transferred to the neuro recovery floor and is slowly regaining her ability to talk, walk, and eat.
The other paramedic, Zoraiz Rehman, is recovering at home and attends multiple appointments each week to deal with serious back injuries.
The pair, both employed by Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services, have received tremendous support from the public and a GoFundMe page remains open until March 8.
The total raised so far is close to the $300,000 goal.
Here is a link to the GoFundMe page to donate toward their medical and living costs.
