The Belleville Downtown District BIA has announced the winners in the 22nd annual Savour the Chill soup competition.
The event took place on Saturday, with 16 downtown businesses participating with their own unique soups. Despite cold weather, downtown streets were full of locals and visitors as they sampled soups across the area.
The judges for the competition were Belleville Police Chief Murray Rodd, Vice President of Hockey Operation for the Belleville Senators John Mathers, Real Estate Agent and downtown business owner Dominique McIntyre, chef and restaurateur of Jerkabago and Josh’s Diner Joshua Blake, and the winner of the Downtown BIA’s social media contest Eric Gainer.
After deliberating, and counting community votes, the winners have been announced as follows:
For the People’s Choice Award: Capers took first place, with The Kafana in second and Paulo’s & Dinkel’s in third.
Judge’s Choice Award went to The Kafana, with Capers as second and Frosty Bubble Bliss in third.
The Downtown District BIA thanked all of the participating restaurants, and the public for their part in making the event a success.
