Emergency crews are on scene in Belleville’s south end where a pedestrian was reportedly struck by a train.
Belleville police say they responded to the area of South John and St. Paul streets around 7:50 a.m. Monday morning.
There are unconfirmed reports to Quinte News that there was a fatality.
Officers remain on scene and the investigation is ongoing.
As a result of the incident, the train is currently blocking several railway crossings, affecting the area from Haig Road to South Front Street.
The Belleville Police Service is asking the public to avoid the affected crossings and use alternate routes until the scene has been cleared.
Police are not releasing any further details at this time.
