Tyendinaga Township Council is against high-speed rail through the municipality.
On Wednesday, councillors officially opposed a southern route of the Alto High Speed Rail Project.
The electrified rail network is expected to connect Toronto and Quebec City, by running trains up to 300 kilometres an hour on designated tracks.
The main route would go from Toronto to Peterborough, then east to Ottawa, before heading towards Quebec.
A southern route is proposed to bridge off at Norwood, cutting through Northumberland County, Quinte West, Tyendinaga Township, and Lennox and Addington County.
