A break and enter at the Bay View Mall over night on Thursday ended with an unexpected twist.
In a social media post, the mall reported that a man broke into the building at close to 8:30 p.m. and proceeded to start to clean. Security camera footage captured him as he mopped and swept all the floors, and used the walk-behind floor machine afterwards.
While his work was described as “enthusiastic,” the would-be janitor had no experience with the floor machine, destroying its pads and squeegee while leaving an inch of water on the floor throughout the building.
Belleville police were notified of the incident and are seeking a suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
