Impaired Arrest
A 37-year-old Peterborough woman is facing ten charges after a motor vehicle collision early Friday evening.
At approximately 5:30 p.m. on February 6, 2026, officers were called to a two-vehicle collision at Reid Street and McDonnell Street. Upon arrival, the officer noticed the driver of one of the vehicles was out of their car and yelling at others including first responders. The officer noticed signs of impairment and when asked for her identification, the female attempted to flee the scene by running onto the road. She was taken into custody by the officer with the help of an off-duty Auxiliary Unit member. During a search of the vehicle after arrest officers seized:
- Five bottles of alcohol
- 64.3 grams of cocaine
- Drug paraphernalia
As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Resist peace officer
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – cocaine
- Driving while under suspension
- Fail to identify self
- Careless driving
- Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
- Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
- Have care or control of vehicle with cannabis readily available
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day licence suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court March 17, 2026.
Theft-of-Vehicle Arrest
A 60-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges after an investigation into the theft of a vehicle in the Township of Cavan-Monaghan.
Throughout the day of Friday, February 6, 2026, officers were investigating the theft, and at approximately 7:15 p.m. that night, the vehicle was spotted and stopped at a residence on Valleyview Drive.
- Theft of motor vehicle
- Fail to comply with undertaking
- Drive while under suspension x2
- Drive while under suspension – while suspended x2
The accused is currently bound by an undertaking with the condition not to be at the residence at which he was located.
He is being held in custody and appeared in court Saturday, February 7, 2026.
Impaired Arrest
A 30-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after a vehicle was reported to be in a snowbank Friday night.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. on February 6, 2026, officers were called to Driscoll Terrace and Douro Street. Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle which was partially in the snowbank and partially in a live lane of traffic. A man matching the description of the driver was located at his residence and a roadside breath test was administered.
As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day licence suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court March 17, 2026.
Impaired Arrest
A 41-year-old Omemee man is facing impaired charges after an incident Saturday afternoon.
At approximately 12:50 p.m. on February 7, 2026, officers were called to a business on Chemong Road about a possible impaired driver. Upon arrival, to the store, officers spoke with the driver of the vehicle and noticed signs of impairment.
As a result, a 41-year-old Omemee man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Fail to comply with probation order
The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day licence suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court March 17, 2026.
Distraction Theft – Jewellery
On February 6, 2026, the Peterborough Police Service was made aware of an attempted distraction theft in a grocery store parking lot.
At approximately 5:30 p.m. on February 6, 2026, a woman in her 60s reported being stopped by a man in a vehicle while putting her groceries into her vehicle in the Costco parking lot near the gas bar. The man indicated that as tradition for his religion, he wanted to give the woman some jewellery to wear to support his ill mother going into surgery. The woman said sure and the man put a necklace on her and a ring. While he was putting the ring on her finger, she noticed her own necklace in the man’s hand and took it back. At this point the man drove away quickly.
The vehicle was described to police as:
- An older model four-door grey sedan
- Two female passengers in the back
- A male passenger in the front seat. He was in his 30s and had a beard.
The driver was described to police as:
- In his late 40s to early 50s
