An inmate at Warkworth Institution is facing charges following a contraband seizure at the prison.
Northumberland OPP were contacted on November 24 after a correctional officer located contraband in a cell area.
Items seized included cannabis, tobacco and cell phones.
Investigation led the arrest of a 28-year-old inmate on Monday on charges of:
- Possession of contraband beyond the visitor control point in a penitentiary
- Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distributing
The accused was held to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
