This is the final week to donate to Prom Project, to help make prom dreams come true.
Prom Project is a collaborative initiative led by The Children’s Foundation and The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation, in partnership with Quinte Mall.
Donations are being accepted until January 30.
Community members can make donations by dropping off gently used or new formal wear at Guest Services inside the Quinte Mall.
Prom Project ensures elementary and secondary students can attend prom and graduation celebrations free of charge, removing financial barriers and allowing youth to celebrate important milestones with dignity and pride.
Thanks to an overwhelming community response, hundreds of items have already been donated. “The response from our community has been incredible,” said Kellie Brace, Executive Director of The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation. “Every donation represents a student who will walk into their prom feeling confident, included, and celebrated. We’re so grateful to everyone who has supported Prom Project, especially as we head into this final week.”
As the donation window closes, The Children’s Foundation is highlighting items that are frequently requested and often in short supply.“We know from past years that there is always high demand for certain items,” said Ingrid Moore, Executive Director of The Children’s Foundation. “Right now, we are especially looking for boys’ dress shirts in sizes 12 to 14, larger ladies’ gowns, and shoes, purses, and accessories fit for prom. These final donations can make a meaningful difference for students.”
In the coming weeks, students will be invited to Prom Project shopping days, where they can select formal wear, shoes, accessories, and more — all at no cost — thanks to the generosity of the community.
