The Seniors Association Kingston Region marks its 50th anniversary in 2026.
Founded in 1976, the Seniors Association has spent half a century fostering connection, purpose, activity, and community for older adults across the Kingston region.
What began as a small grassroots initiative has grown into a vibrant organization serving more than 5,600 members through a wide range of programs, services, and community partnerships.
“As we look ahead to 2026, we are incredibly proud to celebrate 50 years of impact within our community,” said Don Amos, Executive Director of the Seniors Association Kingston Region. “This anniversary is not only a time to honour our past, but also a moment to reflect on how far we have come and to look forward with excitement and optimism for the future.”
Throughout 2026, the association will mark its 50th anniversary with a year-long series of stories, events, and celebrations.
Beginning in January, the association’s monthly publication, Vista, will feature highlights from the organization’s history, including memorable programs, influential leaders, and the many volunteers and members who have helped shape the association over the decades.
Monthly anniversary content, including excerpts from past issues of Vista, historical photos, and opportunities to get involved, will also be shared online at SeniorsKingston.ca/Anniversary.
In addition to regular programming, several special events will be held throughout the year providing opportunities for longtime and new members alike to connect, reminisce, and celebrate the association’s five decades.
One of the signature celebrations will take place in June with a large outdoor anniversary event on the front lawn of The Seniors Centre, 56 Francis Street, their flagship location for 25 years.
The event will feature live music, a barbecue, special guests and speakers, and activities designed to reflect the spirit and legacy of the association. Members, volunteers, partners, and friends from across the community will be invited to attend.
“We are proud of the legacy we share with our members, volunteers, and supporters,” added Amos. “The Seniors Association continues to grow while staying true to its mission of connection, service, and belonging. We hope the community will join us throughout 2026 as we celebrate this important milestone.”
