As we look back on the year that was, Quinte West Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Suzanne Andrews says 2025 can be summed up by the chaos and disruption caused by the trade war with the United States and the turmoil it spread worldwide.
For their part, she says it was an opportunity to make sure they were delivering the right data to their members.
“So that they could make the decisions they needed to make for their businesses to navigate through this chaos. And, you know, there has definitely been some businesses that have been really challenged through this year and then there are others that have found those opportunities that exist.”
She notes that while closures of large businesses like Cascades have had a major effect on the region, many smaller companies have opened up as people go into business for themselves.
Health services and hospitality, as well as the construction industry, remain strong.
Celebrating their 75th anniversary was also a highlight of 2025.
Andrews is very proud of the milestone reached in November.
“There had been a Board of Trade operating off and on in Trenton since the late 1800s. But 1950, after the end of the second world war was when we became incorporated.”
The Quinte West Chamber of Commerce plays a vital role in shaping Quinte West’s economic landscape and represents businesses of all sizes.
