As Quinte News continues to go around its coverage region speaking with municipal, provincial and federal community leaders, and stakeholders for the area, we had a chance to speak with MPP Ric Bresee to get a look at the Hastings—Lennox and Addington riding.
Bresee tells Quinte News that the riding has been able to get some funding through the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund.
“The single biggest thing was certainly the funding and the ability to expand the wastewater system in Napanee,” Bresee tells Quinte News.
“That expansion will allow for up to 4000 new homes in the area, something we desperately need. We need apartments. We need small homes. We need all of that to make housing more affordable for everyone. So really glad to be able to see that.”
Bresee also touted the area’s industrial and business growth.
“We know the Goodyear plant certainly, with that expansion, was wonderful. We’re seeing tremendous new employment opportunities in the area. So it’s great for the overall economy.” Bresee said.
Healthcare continues to be a focus when it comes to not only the area but across the province.
One of the ways that is being addressed is a new project that was announced this year.
“The other big one for the Greater Napanee area, is the new Health Home project, making sure that everyone in the area can be rostered with a primary physician,” Bresee said.
“It is a wonderful step, and I know that the local OHT has made great progress on that.”
