No love was lost as the Trenton Golden Hawks beat the Stouffville Spirit, 6-2 in their return home from a lengthy road trip.
In a game filled with penalties and fights, the Golden Hawks were able to score three times shorthanded in the second period to pull away and get the eventual victory.
Jack Zilliotto scored two goals in the victory, with Thomas Kuipers, Taeo Artichuk, Candon O’Neill, Isaiah Shantz, and Kale Mace also having multi-point nights.
Hayden Jeffrey had 22 saves for the night.
The victory moves the Golden Hawks within five points of the Spirit for first place in the Eastern Conference.
They next head out on the road this afternoon to take on the Newmarket Hurricanes at Ray Twinney Rec Complex.
