Prince Edward County has made an important donation toward fire safety throughout the Quinte region while at the same time honouring a local firefighter.
At its meeting earlier this week, council approved the donation of a 2000 GMC pumper truck to the Hastings and Prince Edward Mutual Fire Aid Training Complex located in Trenton.
The complex provides firefighter training to departments throughout the region, including for Prince Edward County.
The pumper was donated in memory of the late Jim Young, a former county firefighter and Chief Training Officer, who finished his career as a Deputy Chief in Belleville.
