“I fell like it’s pretty common, families in Canada, over Christmastime, theWorld Juniors is a main attraction. I grew up watching it, always loved it. To be able to go to the training camp for a chance to be on that team, it’s really special.”
He says his parents were the first ones to contact.
“Face timed my mom and dad instantly. They were ecstatic obviously, really pumped, and proud of me, but the goal is to make the team and try to win it all.”
Danford says as exciting as it is to be named to the roster, he does not want to change what got him named to the camp.
“Just to be able to get the call for the camp. Not to really change change much of the reason why I got that call. Play my game, keep it simple, don’t try to be someone I’m not. In the prelim games and everything against Sweden, stick to what I know best and hopefully everything falls into place.”
The camp takes place in Niagara Falls, with prelim games in Kitchener and London against Sweden.
The tournament takes place in Minneapolis starting Boxing Day.
