Volunteer and Information Hastings Prince Edward celebrated International Volunteer’s Day on Friday, with Community Heroes Night at CAA Arena.
The evening’s celebrations, during the Belleville Senators game versus the Laval Rocket, recognized individuals who made a difference in the community. The recipients of VIQ’s Volunteer of the Year Award, Pat Simard, and the Businessperson of the Year Award, Doug Peterson, were recognized during the game and took part in the honorary puck drop.
VIQ and the Belleville Senators also celebrated a major milestone in local volunteerism: the retirement of Brenda Snider, VIQ’s executive director, who was recognized at the game for over 20 years of dedicated service. Brenda has been a driving force behind VIQ’s growth, community partnerships, and support of thousands of volunteers across Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.
