On Giving Tuesday, Bill Morton of Quinte Broadcasting demonstrated the true spirit of community generosity with an extraordinary $50,000 donation to our No Place Like Home campaign supporting Habitat Village. It’s a fabulous gift and we are very appreciative of the contribution. This moves us significantly closer to our goal of building 66 affordable homeownership opportunities for local families – homes that will provide stability, safety, and a strong foundation for generations to come.
Donor Bill Morton shared his belief in creating a stronger, more resilient community: “Community resilience benefits everyone, and Habitat PEH provides an avenue for all of us to benefit from a stronger community.”
Affordable homeownership has a profound ripple effect. Children who grow up in safe, stable homes are more likely to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Parents can shift their focus from survival to planning for the future. Entire neighbourhoods benefit when families have the chance to put down roots and build equity. These impacts extend far beyond the build site – they strengthen the socioeconomic fabric of our region.
This is truly a gift with a legacy. Bill’s donation will help create generational change by enabling families to build wealth, break cycles of poverty, and move along the housing continuum. This contribution will be visible in every beam raised, every foundation poured, and every key placed in the hands of a new homeowner.
This Giving Tuesday, we were reminded of the power of community leadership—and how one generous act can create a ripple of hope for years to come.
