A two-vehicle collision on the westbound lanes of the 401 in Kingston has led to one driver being charged, and a reminder about tires from the OPP.
Officers with Frontenac OPP were called to the scene near Sydenham Road on Tuesday, just after 8:30 a.m.
Kingston firefighters extricated one person from a vehicle who was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Frontenac OPP have charged a 25-year-old woman from Greater Napanee with having improper tires.
In this case, the tires were virtually bald.
Police remind all motorists that having proper winter tires is essential to safe driving.
While winter tires are not mandatory, the Highway Traffic Act and related regulations prohibit driving with improper tires, which includes those with worn treads below the legal limit, exposed cords, or significant cuts, bulges, or knots.
The minimum tread depth for most passenger vehicles is 1.5 millimetres.
