Two individuals connected to thefts across multiple jurisdictions have been arrested following a joint investigation targeting organized retail crime.
Last Thursday, as part of an ongoing commitment to combat organized retail crime, members of the Cobourg Police Service Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB), in collaboration with the Port Hope Police Service CIB, arrested two individuals and executed a search warrant on a vehicle linked to thefts across multiple jurisdictions.
As a result of the investigation, police seized several items believed to have been obtained by crime, including:
• Clothing items
• Household items
• Over 1,000 chocolate bars
• Jewellery
A 27-year-old woman and a 19-year-old woman both from Scarborough were charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime.
Both parties were released from custody with a future court date.
The investigation is currently ongoing with further charges believed to be forthcoming.
