The Three Oaks Foundation has announced its Three Oaks Thrift store will be closing effective December 19.
In a press release, Three Oaks says that running the store had become financially challenging for the organization.
The store will be having a 50% off sale from December 8 to December 19.
While the store will close, Three Oaks announced that in January 2026 it would be launching The Oak Room, a client-focused clothing program located in Three Oaks’s emergency shelter that directly supports women in the community.

Three Oaks Foundation is sharing some bittersweet news with our community. Our thrift store, Three Oaks Thrift will be closing on December 19th, 2025.
When we opened the store on July 16th, 2024, our goal was simple. We wished to create a welcoming space where community members could shop affordably, connect with our mission, and learn more about the services available to women and children in Hastings and Prince Edward counties. Thanks to our community and our dedicated volunteers, that vision came to life.
Three Oaks Thrift became so much more than a store. It became a place where people felt good shopping, donating, volunteering, and supporting one another. Women and their children accessing our services were able to shop free of charge, giving families a dignified and empowering shopping experience.
Our volunteers made all of this possible. Their dedication, warmth, and humanity shaped every interaction, and the positive feedback we received from the community speaks volumes. We are deeply grateful for the heart they poured into Three Oaks Thrift.
Unfortunately, running the store has become financially challenging for our organization. As a small team with limited capacity, we need to focus our resources on our core mission: ending intimate partner violence and supporting those impacted. Although it’s a difficult decision, closing the store is the responsible step for us to take.
While we’re sad to say goodbye to Three Oaks Thrift, we’re also looking ahead with excitement.
In the new year, we’ll be developing an improved volunteer program that offers ways to get involved directly with our mission and support the women and children we serve.
In January, we will launch The Oak Room, a client-focused clothing program located in our emergency shelter that directly supports women in our community. This program not only provides material support but also fosters confidence, self-worth, and connection – outcomes far more meaningful than a modest financial gain to our operating budget. We will continue accepting clothing donations to support this program and ensure families have access to what they need.
Three Oaks Thrift will also be hosting a 50% off sale from December 8th to December 19th.
We’re committed to ensuring that donated items continue to help those who need them most.
We’ll be working with community partners so that remaining items are shared with local organizations, and our clients will have the opportunity to access the store before it closes.
Thank you for believing in Three Oaks Thrift, for our amazing volunteers, and for helping us create something special over the past year and a half. We’re grateful for every person who walked through the doors.
Future volunteer opportunities will be advertised on our website at www.threeoaks.ca. If you have any questions, please contact our Community Relations Manager at natalieo@threeoaks.ca.
