Brighton council will consider creating “school zones” to slow drivers down at its meeting Monday evening.
The proposed school zones would be in existing community safety zones on Elizabeth Street, Dundas Street, and Terry Fox Drive.
In such a zone, the speed limit would be dropped to 30 kmh during the times the schools are operating.
Meanwhile council will also hear about a growing trend in Canadian communities, the “Men’s Shed.”
Rene Schmidt will ask council to consider repurposing any existing unused larger building or garage to be transformed into a place where men can gather together to socialize and take part in various projects.
Men’s Sheds can be workshops with power tools, or focus on gardening, cooking, hiking, or community projects.
Such facilities are of special interest to men who are retired.
Brighton council meets at 6:30 in council chambers.
