On Monday afternoon, at approximately 2:30 p.m. members of the Kingston Police Patrol Division attended the area of 232 Princess St. in regard to an individual in distress causing a disturbance.
On arrival, responding officers located the individual in the middle of Princess Street waving an uncapped needle. An officer attempted to remove the needle from the individual’s hand and in doing so, the needle pierced the officer’s safety glove.
With the assistance of responding officers the individual was arrested without further incident. No other officers suffered any injuries as a result of this incident.
The 34-year-old accused of Kingston was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, causing a disturbance and two counts of breach of probation. The accused was transported to Kingston police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
