City of Belleville officials are reminding residents that two-hour free parking in downtown municipal lots will not begin until next year and to adhere to existing parking regulations to avoid fines.
During the Nov. 10 regular council meeting, Belleville City Council approved a motion to implement two hours of free parking.
However, the initiative is set to begin at an undetermined date in 2026.
Once in place, signage indicating the two-hour free parking will be installed in affected lots.
On-street parking will remain free for one hour only.
An implementation plan is in development and additional details, including a start date, will be provided once available.
