Belleville City Council received an update on the city’s work under the Housing Accelerator Fund as well as an outlook on 2026 in its meeting on Monday.
Among the projects that will be looked at in 2026 under the Housing Accelerator Fund will be the completion of an Environmental Record of Site Condition for the former fairgrounds property.
This is to allow for support of potential redevelopment for housing and determine the best use of the site.
Advancing plans for the disposition and redevelopment of the existing YMCA property to further support housing objectives will also be discussed.
As part of the motion, council approved an amendment to the 2025 Operating Budget to allow for the creation of three new contract positions with sufficient funding available within existing project budgets.
The three jobs include a principal planner, purchasing administrative assistant, and a real estate property assistant.
The full report can be found at the City of Belleville’s website.
