Northumberland OPP have charged a driver following a two-vehicle collision in the Township of Cramahe.
Police responded to a report of a collision near Barnes Road and County Road 2 at around 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday.
Emergency Medical Services and the local fire department attended the scene for non-life-threatening injuries sustained by both drivers.
During the investigation, officers spoke with one of the drivers and began an impaired operation investigation.
The individual was taken into custody and further tests were conducted.
Twenty-seven-year-old Zachary Tanswell of Brighton was charged with the following:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Dangerous operation causing bodily harm
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in January 2026. A further 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.
The road was reopened shortly before 9 p.m. when vehicles were removed and cleanup had been completed.
