If anyone has the right to donor fatigue it is the CEO of McDougall Insurance and Financial, Ross McDougall.
That being said, he and his 60 offices/branches step up for the community time and time again.
Wednesday over the lunch hour, it was announced that McDougall is donating $150,000 to the new site for the YMCA of Central East Ontario in Belleville.
“They’ve done a great job for the community, they’ve been here a long time of course. They’ve earned the money in the sense that they do good work in our community, they’re very important. One of the charities that we want to see succeed.”
He adds that he and the company have a focus on supporting organizations that make a difference for children.
“Being able to take advantage of the YMCA certainly caters to kids that can’t necessarily afford other things, helps those kids immensely. So having the Y do that is a huge benefit to our community.”
McDougall says he was approached by the Centre for Life co-chairs Kristin Crowe and Ed Lehtinen.
“Certainly they talked me into it. My last call honestly was Ed Lehtinen and Ed just casually said by the way do you think you might give us a little money for the Y? Ed and I have collaborated on many charitable events over the years. When Ed said maybe you can contribute a little, I said yes.”
The new multi-purpose room at the new Y will be named in honour of McDougall.
