The City of Belleville, along with the Belleville Caribbean Festival Committee (BCFC) and some local businesses, are partnering to hold a donation drive to help victims of Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica.
The drive will be held over two days on Friday and Saturday. Donations will be collected at Metro on Friday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and both Freshco and Rona on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.
The BCFC is looking to collect donations of basic necessities, including bottled water, non perishable foods such as canned goods, rice, beans, pasta, baby formula, hygiene supplies including soap, toothpaste, sanitary pads, diapers, towels, washcloths, new bed linens, and batteries.
The Belleville Police Service will will also collect items for donation, both at their downtown community policing office and at their head office on Sidney Street, until November 30.
