There will be a public meeting on the mayor of Brighton’s proposed 2026 budget next week.
Mayor Brian Ostrander will hold an open house Monday November 24 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.
in council chambers at the municipal offices.
Ostrander is proposing a budget with a tax increase of 4.9 per cent, not including the levies from Northumberland
County and the education sector.
That increase would add an extra $156 a year in municipal taxes on a home valued at $400,000.
Some details on the mayor’s budget can be seen here.
Following the public meeting, council will begin discussions on it.
