Brighton council will see the mayor’s proposed budget for 2026 at its meeting Monday.
Under strong mayor power legislation, Mayor Brian Ostrander is presenting a
budget featuring a 4.9 per cent tax increase over this year.

That translates to $13 a month more on a house valued at $400,000 for municipal taxes only.
Education and Northumberland County tax levies are not included in that figure.
A public meeting on the mayor’s budget is proposed for November 24.
Brighton council will have time to suggest amendments to the budget for the mayor’s approval.
