Ambulance call volumes in Hastings County appear to have reached their peak.
Director of Emergency Services Carl Bowker delivered the Chief’s Report to the Hastings County Emergency Services Committee during Wednesday’s meeting.
In that report, it was said that with the volume of calls hitting a plateau, they are currently expecting call volumes for 2025 to be slightly lower than the total in 2024.
Some initiatives are also planned to further reduce emergency call volume. In September, funding for homelessness outreach programs was received through Homelessness Addictions Recovery and Treatment, freeing nearly $260,000 to be reallocated to programs that reduce 911 calls and emergency room visits.
Those programs include the senior home visit program, remote patient monitoring, supporting vaccination efforts for homebound individuals and wellness clinics at social housing complexes.
