It’s a sign of the times.
Last week the Belleville Kiwanis Club presented cheques to community organizations for the very last time.
The club has disbanded due to steadily declining membership. Belleville Kiwanis, which was formed in 1923, only had 11 members at last count.
Declining membership has been a problem for some time for most service clubs in the country.
Recently the Trenton Kiwanis Club announced they could no longer run the popular Walleye World Fishing Derby due to a lack of volunteers, however, they are still accepting members.
Receiving the final donations from Belleville Kiwanis were The Children’s Foundation and the Belleville General Hospital Foundation.
