Belleville’s Festival of Lights is set to return on November 14 with a special kick-off event including a drone show and visits from Belleville Senators mascot Belly, and of course, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.
Opening ceremonies begin at 5:30 p.m. at Jane Forrester Park (30 South John St.).
The evening will also feature live music, food vendors and the official lighting of the park.
The Festival of Lights runs from November 14 to January 5.
This year’s display will feature three new installations: an interactive snowman, photo frame, “Belleville” ASL finger-spelling sign, and a special display honouring the Pieter Kort family.
Two of Pieter and Jamie Kort’s young daughters were killed in a tragic accident in Florida in the spring
of 2022.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be making appearances at the park every Friday night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. starting Nov. 28 until Dec. 19, collecting letters and holiday wishes before the big day.
“We are looking forward to another fantastic launch-night event as we kick off of this beloved holiday tradition for the 2025-26 season,” said Chair of the Lighting Display Committee Councillor Garnet Thompson. “I would like to thank everyone who contributes to this event every year. Big or small, your donation and support do not go unnoticed and go a long way to ensure this event continues for years to come.”
