Prince Edward County Fire & Rescue responded to a report of a garage fire on Christian Road on Wednesday.
Fire personnel from Stations 4 and 9 with support from Stations 1 and 2 arrived to a fully-involved house fire. All occupants safely escaped.
The fire was brought under control at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Damage is estimated at approximately $700,000.
The fire is being investigated to determine the origin and cause and is not considered suspicious.
Interim Fire Chief Tim Kraemer is reminding all residents that homes equipped with regularly tested and maintained smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and a planned and practised escape increase the chances of survival during a fire.
