The Belleville Senators organization is getting set for the home opening weekend.
On Sunday afternoon they will welcome the Syracuse Crunch, but not before Saturday night at CAA Arena against the Toronto Marlies.
In 2024, the Senators organization drafted Carter Yakemchuk in the first round with the seventh pick.
Coming in at 6’4 and 210 pounds, the D-man appears to be on a trajectory for a long career in the National Hockey League.
To start the 2025-26 season, he is beginning in the AHL with Belleville.
The Fort McMurray native chatted with Zach McGibbon of Quinte News, where he discussed his focus while in the “A.”
“Be hard to play against every single night, no matter who we’re playing – try to be my best, be hard to play against. I want to be an all-around better player. Get stronger, be more physical. I want to improve in all areas and keep getting better, try to do that.”
He says there are good supports in place in Belleville and with the team.
“For two weeks now I’ve been in town. It’s been good. The staff and team make it easy and the facility in Belleville is top notch. I am looking forward to the home opening weekend as well.
It will be a surprise to no one if he gets some time with the big club.
He scored his first AHL goal last weekend in Providence.
Belleville starts a three-game home stand with Toronto on Saturday, Syracuse on Sunday afternoon, and Laval on Wednesday.
