A nomination meeting for candidates planning to run in December’s election for Tyendinaga Mohawk Council will be held Saturday.
Voters can nominate candidates seeking election or reelection for the positions of chief and councillors.
There is one chief position, as well as six councillor positions available to serve a two-year term of office.
The meeting will be held at the Quinte Mohawk School (1624 York Rd., Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory) from noon to 3 p.m.
Those who reside on-reserve but won’t be able to vote in person on election day can make arrangements with the electoral officer to receive a mail-in ballot.
Roughly 10,300 members belong to the Mohawks Bay of Quinte.
About 2,200 live inside the territory and a further 3,000 reside in the Quinte region.
