Belleville City Council approved a recommendation to have a 2026 pre-budget approval for the rental of voting system equipment for the 2026 municipal election in the amount of $142,400.
In March, council put out a procurement call for voting systems related to internet and telephone voting, and vote tabulators for paper ballots.
In a report to council, City Clerk Doug Irwin says following a number of submissions that were evaluated by staff, the highest ranked submission was deemed to be from Neuvote Systems Inc. who submitted for the internet and telephone voting system, along with vote tabulators for paper ballots.
The net cost to the City of Belleville would be $142,321.54.
Funding for the systems would come from the city’s Election Reserve Fund.
