A heavyweight tilt between two of the top teams of the Ontario Junior Hockey League ended in overtime defeat for the Trenton Golden Hawks.
The Milton Menace were able to beat the Golden Hawks in a rematch of last year’s Buckland Cup finals in overtime, 6-5 at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Community Gardens on Friday night.
Forward Easton Lynds scored the game winner, his fourth goal of the season.
There were no multi-goal leads for either team during the game as both sides went back and forth exchanging one-goal leads.
Taeo Artichuk continued his dominant stretch of play for the G-Hawks scoring a hat trick, which included a shorthanded goal. That performance earned him the first star of the game.
Thomas Kuipers got the second star of the game, tallying two assists for the night for the Golden Hawks.
It is a short turnaround for the Golden Hawks as they head on the road to Newmarket to take on the Hurricanes.
