The cause of a house fire on Marmora and Lake remains under investigation.
Thirteen firefighters and four fire apparatus from Marmora and Lake Fire and Emergency Services responded to a structure fire on Hayes Street shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Thursday.
All occupants escaped the home without injury.
Crews remained on scene until shortly before 4 a.m. and contained most of the damage to the basement.
Marmora & Lake Fire Department reminds everyone that smoke alarms save lives.
There should be working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms on every floor as well as outside of all sleeping areas.
It’s also recommended to have a home escape plan with two different paths of escape in times of an emergency.
Be sure to practice your home escape plan with everyone in the home.
