A total of 12 applications for community funding were received, along with six applications for capital funding, which were then evaluated by county staff. A priority was placed for funding requests that align with the goal of ending homelessness through a community effort, funding fidelity and an outcomes-based approach.
Some of the notable projects that were recommended include $600,000 for Grace Inn to assist with purchasing a new house for transitional housing, $39,000 for Three Oaks shelter to replace their HVAC system, and $181,000 for Next Step Housing Connection to fund a homelessness case manager and rent supplements.
Gleaners Food Bank was chosen for the Food Redistribution Centre funding, due to their prior experience in distributing food to area food banks.
